Summary

In 2024, I embarked on an exploratory project to delve into the potentials of generative AI. Collaborating with a friend, we aimed to create a tool that could assist organizations in crafting LinkedIn posts by combining real-time news updates with company insights. This initiative was driven by curiosity and a desire to understand how AI can be integrated into user experience design.

Intro

The project began as a personal challenge to explore new technologies and push the boundaries of innovation. Our goal was to design and develop an AI-powered tool that could generate content, particularly tailored for LinkedIn posts. This endeavor was not just about building a functional product but also about discovering the endless possibilities of AI and its intersection with user interface design.

Ideation

The core idea was to create a user experience that aids organizations in writing LinkedIn posts by leveraging trending news topics. We envisioned a smart, dynamic tool that could transform the latest headlines into impactful, customized content, thereby sparking conversations and enhancing engagement. This concept laid the foundation for our pilot project.

Prompting

Through extensive experimentation with various prompts, we developed a set of effective prompts that enabled users to generate LinkedIn posts in diverse and engaging templates. This process involved refining the prompts to achieve the desired outcomes and ensuring they were adaptable to different user needs.

If this then that

To manage data streams and interactions, we explored automation tools, starting with Zapier. While Zapier provided a good starting point, we eventually transitioned to Make, which offered more options and was cost-effective. Utilizing Make's intuitive drag-and-drop interface, we crafted workflows that automated tasks and data streams, effectively translating our ideas into functional logic. This experience enhanced our efficiency and deepened our understanding of leveraging technology to optimize user experiences.

Trial and error

The journey involved significant trial and error as we sought to transform our concept into a functional tool. We experimented with various platforms and ultimately chose Bubble, a no-code solution that allowed us to design an intuitive user experience while defining the underlying logic. This approach empowered us to create dynamic prompts that adapted to user input, resulting in a responsive and user-friendly interface.

Learnings

Collaborating with my friend Simon Lugte on this project was an enlightening experience that shifted my perspective on generative AI. It highlighted the vast potential of AI and the importance of hands-on experimentation in understanding its capabilities. The project, named Postmeister, served as a practical exploration of integrating AI with digital user experiences. Although the future of Postmeister remains uncertain, the project was a valuable learning experience that has inspired me to apply these techniques to larger-scale projects aimed at creating meaningful impact and adding value for users.
